The Ames Parks and Recreation Department will be participating in the Central Iowa Recreation League for the second straight year at the third-fourth and fifth-sixth grade levels for both boys and girls! Teams will get the chance to play games against other communities, such as Nevada and Roland-Story. This year, each child will go through a skills assessment to determine which team they will be on. Based on the assessment, teams will be divided as evenly as possible. Teams will practice twice a week (times and days to be determined by the coach). Games will be held on Saturday mornings in Ames or the participating communities. The skills assessment will be held during the week of Nov. 18 at the Community Center. Registered participants will be notified. Practices will begin the week of Dec. 2. Further information will be sent to participants in regards to the assessment night. This program emphasizes skill development and fun. Everyone that practices will play in the games.
