ASpire meeting March 4

ASpire’s next monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 4, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Heartland AEA office (511 S. 17th St.) in Ames.

The topic will be “Home and Community Based Waivers,” and it will be presented by Erin Rewertz and Donna Wendt, case management supervisors with Story and Boone County Community Services.

Iowa has seven HCBS waivers: AIDS Waiver, Brain Injury Waiver, Children’s Mental Health Waiver, Elderly Waiver, Ill and Handicapped Waiver, Intellectual Disability Waiver & Physical Disability Waiver.

What is an HCBS waiver? Is it right for my child or family member? How do I know if they are eligible for one? This presentation will provide all of the answers to these and any other questions you have regarding waivers. Please join us if you think you and your family member could benefit from learning more about any of Iowa’s waiver programs.

ASpire is a parent-led support group for parents, educators and professionals who have or work with children who have special needs. There is no cost to attend.
