With spring break around the corner, you might be interested in getting your kids out of the house for an overnight camp with Story County Conservation!
Fourth- and fifth-graders are invited to join naturalist Emily Herring as they spend the evening of March 20 camping at McFarland Park. Campers will attempt to stay up all night by going on night hikes, stargazing, completing crafts, telling campfire stories and more. The camp will end with a view of the sunrise and a delicious breakfast. There will also be a designated quiet zone for those youth who decide to hit the hay.
Participants should bring warm clothes (dress in layers), sleeping bag, pillow and water bottles. Campers can be dropped off at 8 p.m. the night of March 20 and can be picked up the following morning at 8 a.m.
The registration fee of $30 per youth includes snacks, camp supplies and breakfast. Participants must register and pay the fee by 4 p.m. on March 10. After registering, participants will receive more detailed information.
