Spring registration is now open at www.northpolkunited.org.

AES Little League SOFTBALL (Alleman, Elkhart, Sheldahl)

Register by Feb. 7 for AES Little League Softball by completing two forms that can be found on our Elkhart website, www.elkhartiowa.com, under forms and documents, then under applications. Look for the folder titled 2014 Softball Registration/Med Release. Please complete both the registration form and the medical release form.

Holiday Lights contest winners announced

Elkhart Outdoor Holiday Lights 2013 contest winners were awarded by City Council judging on Dec. 21. First Prize Commercial ($100) went to Randol Goodrich and Faith Christian Fellowship at 186 S Grant Ave. First Prize Residential ($100) was awarded to the Tom and Jacki Ausman family at 221 NE Allison Ave.; Second Prize Residential ($50) was awarded to the Scott and Angie Schaffer family at 568 NW Main St. Thanks to all who warmed the hearts and eyes in Elkhart with holiday lights!

Annual pancake breakfast Feb. 22

The Elkhart Community Betterment Committee will hold its annual pancake breakfast on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. This year you will enjoy pancakes, sausage, bacon and all the fixings and beverages inside the Elkhart Veterans Memorial Community Center at 264 NW Garfield Ave. This is a free event, but donations are accepted to help with community projects.

The Betterment Committee is also busy planning the new Elkhart City Festival, to be held on June 21. Please bring any ideas to the next meeting, Feb. 8, in Elkhart City Hall, 260 NW Main St., at 7 p.m.

Meet with Joe Riding Saturday, Feb. 1 and March 1, 8 a.m.

State Representative for House District 30 Joe Riding will be in Elkhart City Hall, 260 NW Main Street, at 8 a.m. on both Saturday, Feb. 1, and Saturday, March 1, to listen to and discuss your concerns, and talk about the Iowa Legislature. Iowa Senator Black will also be on hand to share coffee and news.
