Several Story County residents participated in “Veterans Day on the Hill” at the Iowa Statehouse on Wednesday. A number watched Ames Senator Herman Quirmbach chair a subcommittee, which unanimously supported the Iowa Military Pension Tax Exemption. The legislation, which Governor Terry Branstad added to his Home Base Initiative, is intended to help attract military retirees to Iowa.
