Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Program Development Executive Director Rick Carpenter, left, wishes 17-year-old Drake Stewart of Polk City the best of luck as he becomes the first person in the state of Iowa to take the new HiSET (High School Equivalency Test), that replaces the former GED tests. Stewart took the writing test, the first of five tests that need to be successfully completed to receive his high school equivalency degree. Stewart took the exam at the DMACC Ankeny Campus.
