The next ASpire meeting will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Heartland AEA office in Ames (511 S. 17th Street). The topic will be: “Job skills: The Necessary Skills for Obtaining and Keeping a Job” presented by Andrea Keith, Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation and Maureen McClane, Story County Community Life Program.
Areas to be covered include: the beginning steps towards employment; services and levels of support available to persons with disabilities; what is job development and coaching; how to answer behavior-style questions in an interview; use of informational interviews; parents’ role during job seeking; when and how to disclose your disability.
