An annual golf tournament is giving area residents a chance to play golf and support their local fire station at the same time.
The Ballard Business Alliance, an organization representing businesses in the Cambridge, Huxley, Kelley and Slater communities, is holding a golf outing Sept. 8 at the Ballard Country Club in Huxley.
The tournament will be a shotgun start, four-person best shot format and the cost is $75 per golfer or $275 for a team of four, which includes lunch sponsored by Kreg Tool and South Story State Bank, both of Huxley. Members of fire, police or EMS can participate for $35. Other local businesses will sponsor different holes throughout the course, and there will be opportunities for donating $5 in exchange for things that might help your score, like mulligans or a putting string. Each donation will enter the golfer into a grand prize drawing.
Lunch will be served at 11 a.m., with tee off scheduled for noon. Contact Amanda Estey (515-597-4477, email@example.com) or Shauna Walther (515-228-3177, firstname.lastname@example.org) by Sept.4 to register.
