City of Huxley June Police Report

6/1: Officer responded to a single vehicle accident at the 600 block of Larson. A Huxley woman was transported to the hospital for her injuries.

6/2: Officer responded to a two-vehicle accident at the 3C’s parking lot. A vehicle operated by an 80-year-old Huxley woman struck a parked vehicle, causing approximately $7,500 in damage. No injuries.

6/5: Officer responded to a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 35 near the 102 Mile Marker. A vehicle operated by a 22-year-old Runnells woman drifted into a vehicle operated by a Des Moines man, causing approximately $1,500 to each vehicle. No injuries. Officer responded to a car vs. deer accident on Interstate 35 near the 100 Mile Marker. A vehicle operated by a Dodge City, Kan., man struck a deer, causing approximately $3,000 in damage. No injuries.

6/6: Officer took a theft report at the 500 block of E. First Street. A Roadmaster 24 inch mountain bike, grey and orange in color, was taken from the park where it was left overnight.

6/7: Officer responded to a domestic altercation at the 100 block of N. Second Avenue. The altercation was verbal in nature and both parties agreed that they could cohabitate for the remainder of the night.

6/8: Officer responded to a car vs. deer accident on Interstate 35 near the 104 Mile Marker. A vehicle operated by a Westminster, S.C., woman had struck a deer, causing extensive damage. No injuries.

6/9: Officer took a Criminal Mischief complaint at the 100 block of National Drive. A tire on a Razor Stream Machine was damaged and flat valued at approximately $130 to repair.

6/10: Officer responded to a two-vehicle accident at the 200 block of Highway 69. A vehicle operated by a 66-year-old Huxley man struck a vehicle operated by an Ankeny man from behind, causing approximately $1,500 in damage. No injuries.

6/11: Officer took a report of a minor accident that took place in the 3C’s parking lot. Two vehicles were backing out at the same time, and at the time of accident, no one noticed any damage. Information was exchanged between the drivers.

6/14: Officer responded to a domestic altercation at the 100 block of N. Second Avenue. The altercation was verbal in nature and both parties agreed that they could cohabitate for the remainder of the night with no problems.

6/15: Officer took a report of a stolen bike at the 200 block of Oak Blvd. A purple 20” bike was taken from a bike rack at the apartment complex.

6/17: Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at Highway 69 near the Ballard Plaza. The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old Marshalltown man, was suspended from driving. He was cited into court for Driving While License Suspended.

6/18: Officer responded to an assault at the 100 block of Lynwood. A juvenile female was referred into Juvenile Court for assault and transported to Rosedale in Ames.

6/19: Officer took a theft report at the 100 block of National Drive. An iPad, valued at $300, was either lost or stolen while at the high school about a month prior.

6/20: Officer and Huxley Ambulance responded to a residence at the 500 block of E. First Street. A 23-year-old Huxley female was transported to Mary Greeley Hospital by the officer for treatment.

6/21: Officer responded to a report of a domestic altercation between a 51-year-old Huxley woman and her brother. The argument was verbal in nature and the woman’s brother decided to go back to his home in Des Moines.

6/24: Officer responded to the 200 block of Northpark Blvd. for a report of an out-of-control 15-year-old. Officers assisted the family with the boy, who was transported to West Des Moines for treatment. Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle, a 58-year-old Madrid woman, was arrested for OWI and transported to the Story County Jail in Nevada.

6/26: Officer received a complaint of harassment from a resident at the 500 block of E. First Street. Contact was made with a Huxley man, who also resides at the 500 block of E. First. The Huxley man agreed to stop the harassing behavior in order to avoid future police attention.

Huxley officers had three arrests for the month; one was for Driving While License Suspended, one for OWI and one for Assault. Officers issued 20 citations for traffic offenses and gave 55 warnings. Officers received 162 calls for service or information and had a total of 386 contacts for the month. Officers had 270.5 hours of investigations, providing assistance or answering calls and gave 409.75 hours of general patrol.

Officer responded to a report of a domestic altercation between at 51 year old Huxley woman and her brother. The argument was verbal in nature and the woman’s brother decided to go back to his home in Des Moines.

6/24/2014 12:30 PM Officer responded to the 200 block of Northpark Blvd for a report of an out of control 15 year old. Officers assisted the family with the boy who was transported to West Des Moines for treatment.

6/24/2014 9:00 PM Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle, a 58 year old Madrid woman, was arrested for OWI and transported to the Story County Jail in Nevada.

6/26/2014 9:45 AM Officer received a complaint of harassment from a resident at the 500 block of E 1st Street. Contact was made with a Huxley man who also resides at the 500 block of E 1st. The Huxley man agreed to stop the harassing behavior in order to avoid future police attention.
