Explore an Iowa River with your child this summer

Join Story County Conservation for a canoe trip down a central Iowa river! Spaces are available for the Adult/Child Canoe trip on Saturday, June 28, starting at 9 a.m. No canoe experience is needed to participate!

The fee for the trip is $40 per canoe, and registration with payment is due by 4 p.m., Wednesday, June 25. Participants will meet at the Story County Conservation Center at McFarland Park (56461 180th St.) northeast of Ames at 9 a.m., for a brief orientation before heading to a central Iowa river (to be determined).

Transportation to and from the river, canoes, paddles, life jackets and coolers for lunches will be provided. Participants need to bring water bottles, sunscreen, swimsuit, towel, water shoes (or shoes that can get wet and dirty) and a sack lunch.

The return time is approximately 4 p.m. The trip is dependent on weather and river levels.
