Stacie Herridge has announced plans to run for Story County Recorder.
Herridge, of Nevada, has worked for Story County for more than 17 years. Her first 14 years were spent as deputy recorder, serving under current Story County Recorder, Sue Vande Kamp. In the spring of 2011, Stacie took a position as deputy of real estate in the auditor’s office. She said she saw that as an opportunity to further expand her knowledge, understanding and dedication to county government.
“As a lifelong resident of Story County and my experience helping the public, I recognize the needs of the communities in Story County, both large and small. I am running for Story County Recorder because I am dedicated to the residents of this county. I believe in my ability to take the Recorder’s Office to the next level, enhancing technology, streamlining processes and encouraging collaboration within the county to improve the customer experience and save taxpayer dollars,” Herridge said.
During her tenure as Story County Deputy Recorder, Herridge said she acquired valuable knowledge and experience, fully understanding the many functions and responsibilities of the office. Three years ago, anticipating the Government Restructuring Committee’s recommendation to combine the recorder and auditor’s offices, Herridge took the position in the auditor’s office. Herridge said she has expanded her expertise in her current position, working alongside many elected officials, department heads, clerks and co-workers with software conversions, county valuation, tax list preparation, the budgeting process and elections. As changes occur in legislation, Herridge has been involved and helped spearhead the implementation of those changes at the county level.
Herridge was raised on a small farm near Cambridge and graduated from Nevada High School. After receiving her B.A. degree in management from UNI, she returned to Story County, where she has been actively serving the community and contributing to many organizations. She and her husband, Nick, have lived and worked in Nevada for over 20 years and are raising their three children — Carter, Samantha and Jack — in their hometown.
“As Story County Recorder, I will provide excellent service and with my experience, hit the ground running serving the communities and residents of this county. The best success is earning their trust and delivering on the potential and opportunities ahead of us.”
