Huxley Police Department Reports

July 2014

7/1: Officer responded to a report of an out-of-control 14-year-old at the 100 block of National Drive. The 14-year-old was transported to Rosedale in Ames.

7/2: Officer took a report of Criminal Mischief at a business located at the 500 block of E. First. It appeared that entry was gained into a fenced-in area, but nothing was taken or damaged within. Under investigation.

7/3: Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 69 near National Drive. The driver of the vehicle, a 33-year-old Des Moines man, was suspended from driving. He was cited and released with a court date for Driving Under Suspension.

7/5: Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 69 near Highway 210. The driver of the vehicle, a 38-year-old Des Moines man, was arrested for OWI and transported to the Story County Jail in Nevada.

7/7: Officer responded to the 200 block of North Park Blvd. for a report of an out-of-control 15-year-old. The officer was able to assist the family with eventual transport to the hospital for treatment.

7/10: Officer took a report of harassment from a resident at the 500 block of E. First Street. Contact was made with a Huxley man, who agreed to stop the harassing behavior in order to avoid future police attention. Officer responded to a domestic altercation at the 500 block of E. First Street. The altercation was verbal in nature and both parties agreed that they could cohabitate for the remainder of the night with no further problems.

7/18: Officer took a report of Criminal Mischief at two separate construction projects at the 100 block of Northview Lane. Prints lifted from the scene were taken to DCI for identification and development of a suspect. Officer took a report of Criminal Mischief at the 500 block of E. First. A vehicle owned by a Huxley man was damaged with a key while parked in the driveway.

7/19: Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 69 near Highway 210. The driver of the vehicle, a 31-year-old Urbandale man, was arrested for OWI. He was transported to the Story County Jail in Nevada.

7/20: Officer received a complaint of Harassment by text message from a Huxley female. Contact was made with a Huxley woman, who agreed to have no further contact with the victim in order to avoid future police attention. Officer responded to an accident at the Casey’s parking lot. Upon contact with one of the accident’s participants, an OWI investigation lead to the eventual arrest of a 35-year-old Huxley man for OWI. He was transported to the Story County Jail in Nevada.

7/24: Officer responded to an accident at the 500 block of E. First. A vehicle operated by a Huxley woman struck a parked car owned by a Huxley woman. No injuries.

7/25: Officer responded to an altercation at the 100 block of National Drive. A 59-year-old Ames man was arrested for Simple Assault and transported to the Story County Jail in Nevada.

7/28: Officer responded to a report of a heavily intoxicated male causing a disturbance at the 100 block of National Drive. Contact was made with a 34-year-old Huxley man, who was arrested for Public Intoxication and transported to the Story County Jail in Nevada.

Huxley officers had five arrests for the month - three were for OWI, one for Driving Under Suspension and one for Assault. Huxley officers issued 18 citations for traffic offenses and gave 44 warnings. Officers had 131 calls for service or information and had a total of 339 contacts for the month. Officers used 234.75 hours for investigations, answering calls or providing service and gave 400.75 hours of general patrol.
