City of Huxley

12/1: Officer responded to Highway 210 and 560th for a two-vehicle accident. A vehicle operated by a 23-year-old Ankeny woman struck a vehicle operated by an Ankeny man, causing over $2500 in damage. No injuries.

12/2: Officer responded to Ballard High School for an assault that took place. A 15-year-old Ballard student was referred to Juvenile Courts for Serious Assault. She was transported to Rosedale in Ames. Officer responded to Highway 69 and National Drive for a three-vehicle accident. A vehicle operated by a Huxley man rear ended a vehicle operated by a Huxley woman on the highway, which caused her to rear end the vehicle in front of her. Total damage to both initial vehicles and $500 in damage to the third vehicle. No injuries.

12/7: Officer responded to a single-vehicle accident near National and 69. A vehicle operated by a Huxley female slid on the ice, hit a pole and caused approximately $500 in damage. No injuries.

12/8: Officer responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 35 near mile marker 104. A vehicle operated by a Des Moines woman slid off the road and into the ditch, causing minor damage. Officer responded to a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 35 northbound near the 103 mile marker. A vehicle operated by an Ankeny woman slid off the road and into the ditch, causing minor damage. Officer responded to a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 35 near the 104 southbound mile marker. A vehicle operated by a Solon man slid into a vehicle operated by an Elkhart man, causing $7500 damage in total. No injuries. Officer responded to Interstate 35 southbound near the 104 mile marker for a single-vehicle accident. A vehicle operated by an 18-year-old Urbandale man had minor damage after hitting a median wire. Officer responded to a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 35 southbound near the 104 mile marker. A vehicle operated by a 21-year-old Des Moines man lost control and slid into the center median wire guard, causing $1500 in damage to his vehicle.

12/9: Officer responded to a single-vehicle accident on E. First near 560th. A vehicle operated by a 16-year-old Cambridge boy slid into the ditch, causing approximately $750 in damage.

12/10: Officer responded to the Ballard High School to assist with a student that was out of control. After a short period of time, it was decided that the Ballard student could remain at school with no further problems. Officer responded to the 100 block of Majestic Oak for a report of a mail box that was run over by a vehicle.

12/13: Officer responded to a car versus deer accident on E. First near 560th. A vehicle operated by a Cambridge woman struck the deer, causing approximately $1500 in damage.

12/17: Officer took a theft report from a construction site near Centennial and Highway 69. A piece of equipment, valued at about $2000, was taken from the site. Under investigation. Officer cited a 17-year-old Slater driver for stop-arm violation near the 100 block of Oak Blvd.

12/18 Officer responded to the 3C’s parking lot for an accident. A vehicle operated by a 77-year-old Sheldahl woman had struck three parked vehicles, causing approximately $8000 damage in total.

12/19: Officer responded to a single-vehicle accident near E. First and Sandcherry. A vehicle operated by an 18-year-old Cambridge woman slid off the road and into the ditch, causing approximately $1500 in damage. Officer responded to a single-vehicle accident at the 100 block of Cedar Lane. A vehicle operated by an 18-year-old Huxley man slid off the road and struck a set of mailboxes, causing minimal damage to his vehicle.

12/20: Officer responded to a single-vehicle accident near Parkridge and E. Fourth. The driver of the vehicle, a Colo juvenile, was revoked from driving and also suspended from driving. She was released to her father. Officer responded to a single-vehicle accident near E. First and 560th. A vehicle operated by a 17-year-old Cambridge boy slid into an embankment, causing approximately $2500 to his vehicle. Officer responded to an accident at the 100 block of National Drive. A vehicle operated by a 19-year-old Huxley man struck two parked vehicles, causing damage to both.

12/23: Officer responded to a hit-and-run accident at the Dollar General parking lot. After investigation, the suspect vehicle was identified and located. Contact was made with the offending party at his residence outside of Huxley.

Huxley officers had three arrests for the month. One was for Assault, one for Driving while Revoked and one for Driving while Suspended. Officers issued seven citations for traffic offenses and gave 36 warnings for various others. Officers had 171 calls for information or assistance and had 394 total contacts for the month. Officers had 277 hours of investigations, answering calls, or giving assistance and 455 hours of patrol.
