10/2: Officer responded to a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 35 near the 104 Mile Marker southbound. A vehicle operated by a 23-year-old Boone woman drifted off the road and into the ditch, causing $3000 in damage. No injuries. Officer responded to a vehicle accident at the Ballard Plaza. A vehicle operated by a 27-year-old Cambridge man had struck a parked vehicle, causing approximately $500 in damage. No injuries.

10/3: Officer responded to a two-vehicle accident at Highway 69 and Oak. A vehicle operated by a rural Huxley woman had pulled in front of a Ballard School bus, causing approximately $500 in damage to her vehicle and none to the bus. No injuries. Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 210 near 560th. The driver of the vehicle, a 57-year-old Rockwell City man, was arrested for OWI 3rd and Open Container. He was taken to the Story County Jail in Nevada.

10/4: Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old Des Moines man, had a warrant for his arrest. He was transported to the Polk County line and given to Polk County authorities. The passenger in the vehicle, a 28-year-old Huxley man, was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was cited and released with a court date.

10/5: Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Interstate 35. The driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old Ames man, was arrested for OWI 1st and transported to the Story County Jail in Nevada.

10/7: Officer took a report of harassment at the 500 block of E. Fourth Street. A 39-year-old Sheboygan, Wis., man had been sending threatening text messages to a Huxley woman. He was arrested when he showed up to the residence of the victim in this case. A hand gun and ammunition was seized from the Wisconsin man’s vehicle. He was taken to the Story County Jail in Nevada.

10/9: Officer responded to the 200 block of South Main for a vehicle accident in a parking lot. A vehicle, operated by a Des Moines woman, was struck by a vehicle operated by an Ames woman, causing approximately $3000 in damage. No injuries. Officer issued a citation for unlawful passing of a school bus to a 59-year-old Huxley woman.

10/16: Officer issued a citation for unlawful passing of a school bus to a 16-year-old Cambridge driver.

10/17: Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 210 near Highway 69. The driver of the vehicle, a 16-year-old Polk City male, was arrested for Possession with intent to Distribute and Possession of Paraphernalia. He was released to the custody of his parents. Officer responded to a two-vehicle accident at the 200 block of Sycamore. A Boone man was backing out of a driveway when he struck a parked Huxley man’s vehicle, causing $1500 in damage. No injuries.

10/18: Officer responded to a domestic altercation at the 200 block of Oak Blvd. The altercation was verbal in nature and both parties separated for the remainder of the night. Officer issued a citation for Unlawful Passing of a School Bus to a 48-year-old Huxley woman.

10/22: Officer took a report at the 200 block of Oak Blvd of a burglary. A Huxley woman reported that several items were missing from her apartment after she had been gone only ten minutes to walk her dog. Under investigation.

10/24: Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at Oak Blvd. near Meadow Brook Place. The driver of the vehicle, a 50-year-old Ames man, had a warrant for his arrest. He was transported to the Story County Jail in Nevada. Officer stopped a vehicle near E. First and Highway 69. The driver of the vehicle, a 29-year-old Adel woman, was cited for Driving While License Suspended.

10/27: Officer took a report from a Huxley man about some fraudulent charges on his credit card. The department, with the help of Veridian, are investigating.

10/31: Officer served an arrest warrant at the 100 block of W. First Street. A 52-year-old Huxley man was transported to the Polk County Line and given to Polk County Authorities.

Huxley officers had10 arrests for the month. Three were for warrants, two for OWI, two for Possession of Paraphernalia, one for Harassment, one for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver and one for Driving While License Suspended. Officers issued 19 citations for traffic offenses and gave 63 warnings for various others. Officers had 198 calls for information or assistance and 442 total contacts for the month. Officers had 287.75 hours of investigations, answering calls or giving assistance and 517.25 hours of patrol.
