Special RAGBRAI

Local boy Chris Charron will be promoting the Story County Freedom Rock while he rides the famous RAGBRAI bike ride, July 20-26. The flag that Chris will be pulling has flown at Ground Zero, the Pentagon and the Flight 93 crash site. The late Dr. Bob Breedlove also carried this flag across America on one of his Ride Across America bike races.

Chris also mentioned that he will be pulling this flag in honor of all active duty military, veterans, police, fire and EMS, thanking them for their service, and plans to carry a list of veterans and will dedicate each mile these heroes.

While this is not a fundraiser, Chris did mention that he encourages others to donate using the Freedom Rock and Story County Freedom Rock websites. We will have some more photos and hopefully some on the road stories from Chris when he returns.

Fun Dance

The Maxwell Mother’s Club FUN DANCE for Old Settler’s this year will be at the Maxwell Community Center. Parents, of course, are always welcome to stay and sit in the AC! We will have pop, water and hot dogs available for purchase. Admission will be a canned food item for the Maxwell Food Pantry; the dance will start at 6 p.m. and go until 7:30 p.m. We are only having the one dance this year, so all ages are welcome to attend! Afterward, the rides will still be going on down at the park, so make sure you go on down to check everything out!
