North Polk Students Participate in National History Day

During the 2013-2014 school year, all Mrs. Schwab’s fourth- through sixth-grade reading students selected a topic in history, did extensive research, created a project and then presented it to his or her classmates.

Nineteen of the students chose to participate in National History Day events this spring. The sixth-graders went to Grand View University on Saturday, April 5. The fourth- and fifth-graders went to the State Historical Building on Monday, April 28. At these events, students presented their exhibits, performances, documentaries or websites to a team of judges and received constructive comments about their projects. Connell Lorenzen and Kade McCullough were awarded the best Iowa Connection for their exhibit about Bonnie and Clyde.
