Be sure to attend the Arboretum’s educational program on hickory nuts on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 9 to 11 a.m. Jeff Cartstens, from the USDA-ARS North Central Regional Plant Introduction Station in Ames, plans to guide us, indoors and outdoors, on an exploration of hickory nuts in Iowa – their distribution, habitats, culture and establishment. Becky Ringsby, owner of Savor, a specialty chef services, will wrap up the morning with delicious samples of nutty fare and recipes to take home.
