Have you taken any photos at a Story County Conservation park or natural area in the past year? Share them at the annual Story County Conservation Partners photo contest this spring to win great prizes! All amateur photographers are encouraged to submit photos of nature and recreational activities taken at Story County Conservation properties by March 28.
The following categories will be judged: A: Nature in Story County Conservation parks and areas (may include structures); B: Specimen shot of a native plant or animal (photographs of specific plants or animals – micro or macro); or C: Connecting people and recreation (People enjoying Story County Conservation areas). Please note photographs in categories “A” and “C” must be taken in a Story County Conservation areas. Special awards include “Best of Show” and “Partners Magnet.”
Each photographer may submit up to three entries. Youth photography entries (18 years old or younger) will be judged separately. Photos from all seasons will be accepted. Cash and other prizes will be awarded in each category at the Partners Spring Festival on May 4 at McFarland Park. Photos may be submitted March 10-28, 2014 at the Story County Conservation Center (56461 180th St.) northeast of Ames.
Photographers retain all rights to their images except for use by Story County Conservation.
Images from the contest are used to enhance Story County Conservation’s photo library and encourage people to visit SCC areas year-round. Photos from last year’s contest can be found here: www.facebook.com/storycountyconservation.
