Two more ‘Little Free Libraries’

The Volunteer Center of Story County and Raising Readers of Story County recently placed two new Little Free Libraries.

One will go in a city park in Collins, pending approval from their City Council, and the other was placed in Rolling Hills Mobile Home Park at Maxwell. Community members have stepped up to act as stewards to both libraries. The placement of these two libraries brings the total to 23 Little Free Libraries in Story County.

Little Free Libraries are “boxes” of books for neighbors to share. The idea is that when a person takes a book they leave a book behind for somebody else. Community members act as stewards to make sure the library stays in good condition. More information and a map can be found at littlefreelibrary.org.

The Volunteer Center and Raising Readers would like to thank Diana Figueredo, Little Free Library coordinator for Raising Readers and Hannah Dankbar of Volunteer Center of Story County for connecting with the communities, and Harold Pike and crew, who built the libraries.
