HUXLEY – The Ballard girls’ golf team edged Carlisle for second place at the Raccoon River Conference girls’ golf meet May 14 at the Ballard Golf and Country Club in Huxley.
The Bomber girls shot a 417 over 18 holes to beat Carlisle by three strokes for second place out of seven teams. Adel-Desoto-Minburn shot a 385 to win the conference championship.
Shelby Petersen had a strong individual showing for the Bombers. Petersen shot a 49 on the front nine and cut two strokes off that score down the back stretch to end up with a 96.
Petersen’s score ranked fourth individually. ADM’s Lexi Owen and Taylor Boorn were medalist and medalist runner-up respectively with scores of 90 and 93, and Winterset’s Jalyn Clark placed third with a 95.
Charcey Petersen, Kelcie Bohning and Kaylee Klunder rounded out the varsity scoring for Ballard.
Charcey and Bohning each shot a 106.
Charcey ended up with nine-hole rounds of 52 and 54 respectively. Bohning shot a 55 on the front and shaved four strokes off that score on the back nine.
Klunder ended up with a 109. She was consistent throughout the meet, carding a 55 on the front nine and 54 on the back.
Madison Houge finished with a 111 and Mikayla Kaldenberg shot a 175 to round out the individual scoring for Ballard.
