Ballard wins triangular in boys’ golf

BOONE – The Ballard boys’ golf team won a triangular meet with Carroll and Boone Monday in Boone.

The Bombers shot a 159 over nine holes to beat both Carroll and Boone by 20 strokes for the victory.

Ballard’s Nick Hartman took medalist runner-up honors after losing a card playoff for medalist. Hartman shot a 37 on the day.

Nash Bucher and Brandon Thompson both finished with a 40 and Mike McVicker was the final scored Bomber golfer with a 42.

Final team scores – nine holes: 1. Ballard 159, 2.Boone 179, 3. Carroll 179.

Ballard (159) – Nick Hartman 37, Nash Bucher 40, Brandon Thompson 40, Mike McVicker 42.

PERRY – Ballard started the 2013 season with a victory over Perry in nine holes at the Perry Country Club April 2.

The Bombers shot a 170 to easily beat Perry’s score of 191. Ballard had four golfers shoot a 43 or better, and two more shoot at least a 45.

Ty Mason and Brandon Thompson were the top individual performers for Ballard as they each shot a 42. Nick Hartman and Nash Bucher were the other scored golfers after carding identical rounds of 43.

Mason Jensen came within one stroke of scoring with a 44 and Mike McVicker added a 45 for the Bombers.

Final team scores (nine holes): Ballard 170, Perry 191

Ballard (170) – Nash Bucher 43, Nick Hartman 43, Mason Jensen 44, Ty Mason 42, Mike McVicker 45, Brandon Thompson 42.
