Bomber boys fall at B-F

BONDURANT – A bad second half did in the Ballard boys’ basketball team when the Bombers took on Bondurant-Farrar Friday in Bondurant.

The Bombers gave up at least 20 points in each of the final two quarters, suffering a 73-59 loss to a red-hot Bluejay team.

Ballard led 29-26 at the half. But Bondurant-Farrar put up 21 points in the third quarter to move in front by a 47-42 margin heading into the final period. In the fourth quarter, the Bluejays netted 26 more points and the Bombers were unable to keep up, falling to 10-6 overall and 8-3 in the Raccoon River Conference.

The Bombers shot just 34 percent from the field and 23 percent from 3-point range for the game. The Bombers did do well from the foul line, making 16 of 20 free throws.

Bondurant-Farrar shot 47 percent from the field, 20 percent from 3-point range and 75 percent from the line, picking up its eighth-straight victory. In addition to the superior shooting accuracy, the Bluejays also committed fewer turnovers, with eight to Ballard’s 13.

Mason Jensen scored a game-high 28 points for Ballard in defeat. Jensen made 10 of 23 field goals, 2 of 6 3-pointers and 6 of 7 free throws and he added five rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Jacob Nethers tacked on 11 points, three rebounds and two assists and Jaden Moody came off the bench to net seven points for the Bombers. Kolby Jensen added six points and three steals and Nick Hartman delivered five points and 12 rebounds.

Tyvin Riley recorded 25 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals for Bondurant-Farrar. Grant Klinefelter ended up with 19 points, Drake Fuller came through with 12 points and three rebounds, Grant Petersen had 10 points and one block and Sam Duffy delivered five points, eight rebounds and one block for the Bluejays.
