WOODWARD – The Ballard girls’ golf team had four golfers shoot under 60 over nine holes to place second as a team at the Woodward-Granger Invitational May 1.

The Bombers ended up with a 215 as a team to just edge out Ogden and Guthrie Center by two strokes for runner-up in the seven-team tournament. Adel-Desoto-Minburn won with a score of 197.

Madison Houge stepped up as the lead individual golfer for Ballard. Houge shot a 50 to place fifth individually in the tournament.

Ogden’s Emily Rinehart was the medalist, as her round of 42 was four strokes better than the next-best score. ADM’s Taylor Boorn, Hayley Willems and Lexi Owen placed second through fourth individually with respective rounds of 46, 49 and 50.

Shelby Petersen and Charcey Petersen both carded a 53 and Kelcie Bohning shot a 59 to complete the scoring for Ballard.

Final team scores (nine holes): 1. ADM 197, 2. Ballard 215, 3. Ogden 217, 4. Guthrie Center 217, 5. Panorama 228, 6. Woodward-Granger 237, 7. Perry 279.
