HUXLEY – The Ballard boys’ tennis team couldn’t capitalize on victories in the Nos. 1 and 2 singles matches versus Fort Dodge St. Edmond April 21 as the Bombers failed to win another match in a 7-2 loss to the Gaels at Huxley.
Joe Kruger and Nathan Carlin accounted for the Bomber victories in singles play.
Kruger won the No. 1 match over St. Edmond’s Zach Gailey in straight sets. Kruger won by an identical 6-4 score in each set.
Carlin rebounded from an opening set loss to the Gael’s Patrick Hancock in the No. 2 match. Carlin lost the opening set, 6-3, but he came back with a 6-1 victory and then took the tiebreaking third set by a 10-4 score.
However, Ballard was swept in each of the final four singles matches to fall behind 4-2. The Bombers then failed to win a single set in doubles play, falling to 1-4 on the season.
