HUXLEY – The Collins-Maxwell-Baxter girls’ track team turned in a dominant performance in Class B and Ballard won one event and took fourth in three others in Class A at the Bomber Relays Friday in Huxley.

CMB won four events and racked up 10 silver medals to finish with 165 points in Class B. That was good enough to beat Roland-Story by a comfortable 35 points for the Class B team title, with Woodward-Granger finishing a distant third in the seven-team field with 75 points.

Two individuals won a gold medal for CMB in Shelby Berg and Bridget Hurley. Berg won two events and both she and Hurley beat out teammates to claim first place.

Berg was first in both the 800 and 1,500-meter events.

In the 800 Berg clocked in at two minutes, 39.55 seconds to edge fellow Raider Anne Deutsch’s 2:41.10 for the title. Berg ran a 5:43.06 in the 1,500 to barely edge senior teammate Hayley Leonard’s 5:43.87 for first.

Hurley clocked in at 1:04.95 in the 400 and Raider teammate Kayla Hennick was next in line with 1:06.57.

Berg, Deutsch, Leonard and Hennick also combined to give CMB one relay victory. The Raider quartet competed in the 4 X 800 and they combined to run a 10:49.38 to top South Hamilton’s 11:01.03 for the gold.

In field events Payge Jurgens, Abbie Haupert, Alex Broderick and Toni Spencer each won a silver medal for CMB.

Jurgens had a throw of 35 feet, one inch in the shot put to edge teammate Courtney Ubben’s 35-0 for second in the event. Haupert took runner-up in the discus with a throw of 102-11, Broderick was second in the high jump after clearing 4-8 and Spencer took the silver in the long jump after peaking at 13-11.5.

On the track Chasity Moody joined Hennick, Deutsch and Leonard in receiving a silver medal. Moody was second in the 3,000 with a time of 12:56.17, coming in just behind the 12:52.20 run by South Hamilton’s Rachel Huegerich.

CMB also claimed second in the shuttle hurdle and 4 X 400 relays.

In the shuttle hurdle Taylor Ross, Jenna Ziesman, Jenna O’Hara and Brittany Peterson combined to run a 1:15.30. Deutsch, Hurley, Broderick and Hennick teamed to clock in at 4:32.56 in the 4 X 400.

Ziesman added a bronze-medal jump of 13-9.25 in the long jump and Carter Larson, Haupert, Broderick and Ashley Girard joined up to run a third-place time of 4:56.97 in the distance medley relay.

CMB also had four fourth and fifth-place finishes apiece and three sixth-place performances.

In Class A Ballard tallied 33 points to place sixth out of eight teams. The Bombers came in just six points behind Carlisle’s fifth-place score.

The distance medley was the crowning event for Ballard on the evening as the Bombers won the event. The foursome of Elli Godwin, Sydney Fisher, Val Charter and Abby Kohut-Jackson teamed to run a 4:43.25, which was plenty good enough to beat DCG’s 4:46.48 for first.

Ballard also took fourth in the 4 X 800 and sprint medley relays.

In the 4 X 800, Kohut-Jackson teamed with Ashley Meldrum, Sydney Smith and Alexis Scharfenkamp to run a time of 11:18.98. Ellen Carson and Gabie Doud joined Godwin and Fisher to run a time of 2:06.41 in the sprint medley.

Individually, Doud was fourth in the open 400 with 1:07.38. Smith and Godwin were fifth and sixth in the 200 with respective times of :29.57 and :29.78.
