PCM snaps seven-game CMB winning streak

MONROE – The Collins-Maxwell-Baxter boys’ basketball team saw its seven-game winning streak snapped by a hot-shooting Prairie City-Monroe squad Friday in Monroe.

PCM shot an incredible 67 percent from the field and CMB couldn’t keep pace in a 67-55 loss.

CMB started off strong, putting up 21 first-quarter points to take a four-point lead. But PCM surged ahead by a 37-33 score at the half, and the Mustangs outscored the Raiders by seven in the third quarter.

CMB was unable to make up any ground in the fourth quarter, falling to 13-4 overall and 10-4 in the Heart of Iowa Conference. PCM improved to 12-4 and 11-3 respectively.

Austin Moorman made six 3-pointers and finished with 21 points to lead CMB offensively. Seth Balke put up 14 points and three assists; Bryce Kemp had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds; Zach Samson delivered five points, eight rebounds and three assists and Tommy Galloway chipped in three points and five assists.

Dillon Bruxvoort netted a game-high 27 points on 11 of 16 shooting and he also contributed five rebounds, five assists and three blocks for PCM. Logan Gillman added 18 points and Ryan Jennings totaled 13 points for the Mustangs.
